Maya has a natural presenting style showing warmth and knowledge. She has appeared in BBC Coast, Springwatch, Coastal Path, Curious Creatures, ITV Hungry Sailors and a Wickes advert. As a keen swimmer, diver, snorkeller and water sportswoman she is adaptable and capable. Maya's Hungry Sailors appearance made an appearance on Harry Hill's TV Burp discussing her "massive winkle".

Academic Background

Maya holds a degree in Marine Biology and Coastal Ecology and an MSC Integrated Coastal Zone Management.  She has been on various workshops that enrich her understanding of marine ecosystems and enhance her storytelling. Maya is knowledgeable, well-read and informed keeping up to date with the latest news.

Her published works span genres, reflecting her diverse interests in marine science and literature, with writings that explore the intricate interactions of people and ocean life. She has written for Diver, Coast and BBC Wildlife magazine as well as writing press releases.

Recognitions Achieved

Maya was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the British Naturalist Association for recognition of excellence in natural history. The Fellowship (Honoris Causa) of The British Naturalists’ Association is bestowed upon a small number of naturalists of outstanding calibre.
