Newquay – Perranporth 17km

It’s been a while - just over a month. I’ve been missing the coast path and pining over getting back on track.

I needed the coast path before I started and need it even more now I’ve begun. Ive got fanciful dreams of just keeping walking until I finally say in Forrest style, “I’m pretty tired…I think I’ll go home now.”

It was a misty and damp day but still in shorts and t-shirt. The difference of walking without intense heat is pretty stark. It’s so comfortable and the kms quickly disappeared in no time.

Not long after I started, I spotted a little pink duck which read, “my mummy has stage 4 cancer…please take me on your adventure”.

You can read more about it @cmducks on Facebook and see my post. It really moved me finding that duck and hearing about Chloe Mae and her mum’s journey. Duck will join me for more SWCP adventures until I pass her on.

Lessons learned:

• Life is too short to not be on the right path

Fave bits:

  •  Finding a little pink duck

  •  Chatting to the @bdmlr_uk volunteers looking over a bay with a seal and pup

  •  Getting back on track

As ever, if you can, please support others on much harder cancer journeys. Please go here.
