Hannafore(Looe) to Cawsand - 26.1km / 7 hrs
Total completed : 40km / 3.9% of SWCP complete
Jumped from north Cornwall to south and set out on an ambitious walk from Looe to Cawsand. I started off thinking that “in reality” it may have been more than I could do in the day. In reality, I did it, so I think I need to take a closer look at my “realities”.
Luckily, the first half of the walk was in a lot of shady woodland patches of coast path which was lovely in the heat. Putting my water bottles in the freezer the night before is also a game changer.
Felt pretty optimistic when I hit Port Wrinkle half way ish for a lunch and swim stop. But the second half of the walk was more brutal in the heat and my icy water was icy no more and running low.
Finally arrived at Cawsand put my flip flops on that I’d forgotten last walk and chilled out with a cider on the waterfront.
My fave part of the walk was the swim, completing the distance, a sea of sheep and realising how crazy lucky we are to have the most beautiful coastline ripe for new adventures for future frollicks.
My least fave thing - horse flies
Lessons from the coast path:
- put Smidge on before you get bitten at the start of the walk
- when you’re looking in to the distance at your destination, it looks almost an impossible task. When you get to the destination and look back at how far you’ve come it’s pretty joyous.
Another beautiful walk with the clearest of seas , rippleless water, dolphins in the distance and baking sun…
