Fish scuplture under wave-like clouds leaving Polperro

Fowey (Polruan) to Hannafore(Looe) - 19km / 6 hrs

Total completed : 59km / 6% of SWCP complete

14th July 2026

Yesterday’s walk was another proper hoofing, uppy-downy kind of day – especially the first half from Polruan towards Polperro.

I decided to get the bus from Looe to Fowey so I could walk back to the car without worrying about public transport deadlines, and tackle the harder "uppy" bits first.

The uppys were pretty uppy, the sun was pretty sunny (and very hot!), but the views were pretty stunningly viewy. (I’m tired!)

There were so many gorgeous little beaches tucked away off the beaten track that I’ll definitely be coming back to explore another day.

I’ve been thinking about how to add a bit more meaning to this walk and whether I could do some fundraising along the way. Last week I accepted a part-time role with Plymouth & Cornwall Cancer Fund (PCCF).

After losing my brother and sister "out-of-law" in recent years, we know just how challenging a cancer journey can be and how vital charities like PCCF are in supporting people and their families. So, if you fancy sponsoring my walk, I’d be incredibly grateful. It’ll encourage me on my journey while helping support others on journeys that are far more important and challenging than mine.

Lessons from the Coast Path:

• Sometimes it’s best not to see what lies ahead.

• There are other journeys that are far more challenging than this one.

Favourite things:

🍦 A lovely chat with my daughter at the start of my walk, with her saying, "You’re a strong woman." I melted a little more in the heat.

🍦 An ice cream break at Talland Bay, sitting in a sun-sheltered, breezy beach hut.

🏖️ Discovering beautiful beaches to come back and enjoy another time.

Least favourite thing:

  • a steep edgy bit near Rafael Cliff with crashing waves below.
